I can't believe it. After two & a half years of going one step forward, three back (or so it seemed), it looks like we are finally making progress on paying off our debt. YAY! Here's how the numbers look:
2011 total payoff: $2,374.15 (amazing, considering how far we had back-tracked)
2012 payoff so far: $6,576.44!
Feels like we are rocking & rolling now. And we are almost back to our previous all-time low total. Which is great considering what had been added on since that time.
We are down to nine debts total from a starting of seventeen. That in itself is such a relief. Only two of our nine debts are higher than $10,000 (student loan & truck). The rest are all solidly four digits and dropping. Two of them have recently gone below $3,000, which for us seems to be the point at which they rapidly pick up speed & disappear.
If we can keep up this pace through the rest of the year, we will be able to pay off almost $20,000! I forsee two, if not three, more debts being reduced to $0. Our main focus this year is to stay on top of savings (for all of those things that had tripped us up in the past), and to keep reigning in the spending now that it feels we have a bit of breathing room.
